Kaufman County Courthouse, buildings swept after bomb threats found in Forney

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office has swept the Kaufman County Courthouse, south campus, and the Precinct 2 Sub Courthouse after bomb threat letters were discovered this morning in Forney, Texas.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office has swept the Kaufman County Courthouse, south campus, and the Precinct 2 Sub Courthouse after bomb threat letters were discovered this morning in Forney, Texas.

According to Kaufman County Sheriff David A. Byrnes, a letter was discovered on a vehicle at an apartment complex this morning in Forney which indicated a possible bomb threat. Following the threat, the interior and exterior of the Kaufman County Courthouse as well as the south campus and the Precinct 2 Sub Courthouse were searched.

Deputies did not locate anything within the buildings to substantiate the bomb threat.

β€œWe found nothing,” Sheriff Brynes told inForney.com. β€œWere working on it and were gonna continue to work on it.”

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the threat. β€œWe're processing the note right now to see if we can come up with any evidence on it,” said Byrnes. The area the note was found has also been examined.

β€œWe're on alert and everyone's being cautious, but so far we've found nothing,” he said.

Sources tell inForney.com the letter was vague and did not contain a very specific threat. Authorities were alerted about the bomb threat at approximately 9 a.m. None of the buildings were evacuated.
