The Kaufman County Narcotics Unit and the Seagoville Police Department teamed up on the night of February 7, 2013, to execute a search warrant for drugs on a house in the 100 block of West Adkins Street in Seagoville.

The suspect, Kevin James Close, 47, of Seagoville, was suspected of selling large quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana. He had been the target of an extensive investigation and an undercover operation. When the two departments executed the search warrant, they located Close inside the residence. He was arrested without incident.

The successful search warrant operation led to the recovery of one ounce of methamphetamine and nearly five pounds of marijuana, that was packaged and ready for illegal distribution. Chief Pat Stallings of the Seagoville Police Department stated โ€œWe are always happy to work with other agencies in any effort to combat drugs in our community.โ€

Investigators also recovered a stolen firearm and seized nearly $6,000.00 in cash and a Harley Davidson motorcycle from the residence. All money and property believed to be linked to the drug operation is subject to seizure and may not be returned to the suspect if he is found guilty of the drug charges.

Kevin Close was charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, over 4 grams but less than 200 grams. This charge holds a penalty of 2 to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000.00 fine. A call to Seagoville PD to determine what other charges Close faces has not yet been returned. Close was booked into the Dallas County Jail but has bonded out.
