TERRELL, Texas — A Kaufman County grand jury has indicted a couple who led police on a chase last month with their infant in the vehicle.
On July 4, 2018, the Terrell Police Department responded to Walmart, located at 1900 West Moore Avenue, in reference to shoplifting. There, police say 40-year-old Antonio Pena and 30-year-old Nita Vasquez, both of Dallas, Texas, fled in their vehicle.
"The suspects were arrested and were found to have their 6-month-old infant with them in the vehicle," Terrell Police Department Corporal Zachary Boyd stated at the time of their arrest.
Pena and Vasquez were both handed indictments for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, abandon or endanger a child with criminal negligence, and theft of property less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions.
