SCURRY, Texas — A Kaufman County grand jury has indicted a Scurry, Texas, man on a murder charge, according to an indictment sheet released today.

SCURRY, Texas — A Kaufman County grand jury has indicted a Scurry, Texas, man on a murder charge, according to an indictment sheet released today.

On February 18, 2018, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office investigators were dispatched to a residence on County road 4094, near Scurry, to investigate a homicide.

At the time, police say they arrested the homeowner of the residence, who was identified as 47-year-old Ross Anthony Scott, and charged him with murder. He was booked into the Kaufman County Jail where he remains jailed on a $1 million bond.

The murder indictment for Ross was handed down yesterday.

Scott has had previous charges of assault, family violence, unlawful restraint, criminal mischief, and is currently awaiting trial for a 2017 charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to county records.

The identity of the victim has not been released because law enforcement has not been able to locate next of kin.
