The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a truck, trailer, and tractor being stolen in the area of High Country Lane and I-20 just south of Forney, Texas. An officer responding to the call noticed the vehicle in question and attempted to stop it.

The suspect fled from police and drove off the highway into a pasture north of I-20, bailed from the vehicle, and fled on foot near Cimarron Trail.

Several nearby agencies are currently assisting in the manhunt including the Forney Police Department, the Crandall Police Department, the Mesquite Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s office deployed a K-9 unit.

In the past several weeks, several surrounding agencies have reported an alarming increase in vehicle thefts — most notably of Ford F-250s and F-350s.

Police called off the search at approximately 12:30 a.m.
