KAUFMAN - Criminal District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced today the conviction of Keith Richard Nemcek, age 45, for Aggravated Sexual Assault, a first-degree felony offense.
On July 19, 2023, the Terrell Police Department received a 911 call from a concerned good Samaritan in Terrell, Texas, who had located an injured female in his driveway needing help. Within minutes, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and Terrell Police arrived and determined the victim needed to be transported for a sexual assault exam and medical care.
The investigation established that on the evening of July 18 and into the early morning hours of July 19, the defendant committed acts of aggravated sexual assault on his victim with a baseball bat and his hand. He went on to strangle her multiple times that evening while also striking her face. Once the defendant left for work on the morning of July 19th, the victim fled the residence to seek help from a nearby home. Jurors heard testimony that this act of violence was a culmination of months-long emotional and physical abuse the victim endured while residing in the home with this defendant.
He utilized common tactics of isolation, manipulation, degradation, financial control, and physical violence to keep his victim under his control.
In punishment, jurors heard that the defendant had a long history of manipulation and control on the women he dated but was reported by his coworkers at the local Home Depot to be very charismatic, friendly, and great with customers.
On November 7, 2024, after a four-day jury trial, the jury responded with a swift guilty verdict and a punishment sentence of 68 years imprisonment.
The Prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Justin King and Ashley Holman, Investigator David Boykin, Paralegal Yolanda Murphy, and Victim’s Assistance Coordinators Kylie Conner and Sabrina Mumaw.
The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department, Terrell Police, and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners with Texas Health Presbyterian for their incredible work ensuring this victim received care and justice.
