KAUFMAN COUNTY Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery after a woman was carjacked on Friday afternoon at the Dollar General store located at 6970 Farm-to-Market (FM) 741, in between Heartland and Forney.

Just before 4 p.m., the Forney Police Department dispatch center received a 911 call about a man with a gun at the Dollar General store. While en route, it was reported the man had carjacked a woman in the parking lot and fled westbound on Interstate 20.

The Forney Police Department, Crandall Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.

Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jolie Stewart says a black male in his late teens to early 20s approached the woman asking for change. When she turned around, Stewart says the man took her car and was last seen fleeing westbound on Interstate 20.

A male employee of the Dollar General saw the confrontation and attempted to pull the man from the woman’s vehicle.

Stewart says one witness reported the suspect had a gun but police have been unable to confirm the reports.

The woman’s vehicle is described as a dark gray, four-door 2014 Honda Accord.

The woman was treated and released on scene by CareFlite for minor abrasions.
