KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide after a man was found deceased at an auto sales business northwest of Terrell.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to Reta Auto Sales in the 13000 block of County Road 236 after a man was found deceased inside a small building within the business’ gated lot.
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Captain Fred Klingelberger says a woman was attempting to contact her husband and, after being unsuccessful, drove to the business to find him deceased of apparent homicidal violence.
Tuesday afternoon, Klingelberger says investigators believe the man died of apparent gunshot wound but were waiting on an autopsy to determine an official cause of death and to determine the number of times the man was shot.
Its unclear at this time if robbery was the motive.
Authorities have not yet released the victim's name.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department and CareFlite also responded to the scene.
Investigators obtained a search warrant early Tuesday morning and canvassed the car lot as well as the office building, later removing several bags of evidence.
This is a developing story.
