KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several vehicle burglaries as well as reports of two stolen vehicles in recent weeks in an area just east of the city limits of Forney.
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jolie Stewart says there have been four burglaries of a vehicle and two stolen vehicles in April. The vehicles were left unlocked in each of the burglary cases, she said.
One of the vehicle burglaries is located in Grandview Estates which was captured on video surveillance. Another was off Helms Trail and two others in the Hunters Glen Estates area on Fox Chase and Glenview Drive.
A truck was reported stolen on April 7 on Blarney Stone Way in the Shamrock Ridge Estates neighborhood and another vehicle was stolen on April 14 off Highland Prairie Road in the Highland Prairie neighborhood further north off of Helms Trail, according to Stewart. A firearm was inside one of the stolen vehicles.
Neighbors also reported two instances in which someone attempted to gain entry into their homes by kicking at the front door in broad daylight in the Highland Prairie area.
Stewart says residents should always lock the doors to their vehicles and homes, bring valuables inside, and, if a light is on overnight near the driveway, to park under the light or point it in the direction of where the vehicles are parked so would-be burglars can’t hide under the cover of night.
Police have released video surveillance in one of the cases in hopes someone from the public might help identify two persons of interest, see below.
