KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office issued an IRS scam alert on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
“We have received several reports of citizens getting phone calls from New York based numbers, specifically (585) 300-4101, claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service,” Kaufman County Sheriff’s spokesperson Captain Fred Klingelberger said in a statement Tuesday.
“The message is prerecorded and states that you are going to be sued for back taxes,” stated Klingelberger. “This is a scam do not disclose any personal information to the suggested contact information in the message.”
Any reports of fraud should be submitted to your local law enforcement agency.
