KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman County Sheriff's Office will be implementing full-body x-ray scanners in their detention facilities to enhance safety by preventing contraband from entering.
Operators will receive training on the operation and use of the security screening system, which will detect hidden items on individuals, including weapons, drugs, and other prohibited materials, according to the sheriff's office.
The scanners aim to thoroughly screen inmates, helping to maintain a secure environment and reduce the risk of violence, drug abuse, and other contraband-related issues.
"Implementing this technology is crucial for protecting the well-being of both detention staff and inmates, ensuring a safer and more controlled facility," read a statement from the sheriff's office.
"We're excited to provide the improved technology in the detention facility at no cost to the county taxpayer," stated Kaufman County Sheriff Bryan Beavers.
