Three Kaufman ISD campuses were placed on lockdown yesterday morning, November 28, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m. when a gunman was believed to be held up in an apartment complex adjacent to the campuses. The Kaufman Police Department and Kaufman Tactical team locked down the apartment complex for nearly five hours.

Kaufman High School, Norman Junior High School, and the Alternative Learning Center were the campuses affected by the lockdown. The suspect was not found at the apartment complex and the school lockdown was lifted. Kaufman Police have issued a felony warrant for a man whose name has not been released yet. The KPD issued a description of a black male, 5-foot 7-inches tall, approximately 140 pounds, with a cross tattooed on his left cheek.
