KAUFMAN - A Kaufman County Jury has sentenced Joseph Adrian Garcia to 50 years in the Texas Penitentiary for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Murder in 2022.
According to a release from the Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Garcia was noticed by a neighbor attempting to break into a Kaufman residence with a pickaxe.
A concerned neighbor called the police, and when police arrived, the police were able to determine that Garcia was under the influence of suspected narcotics and had been threatening “I will kill you” to any individuals he had contact with, including the matriarch of the residence and her two small children, ages 6 and 8.
On August 15th, after a three-day jury trial, Garcia’s guilty verdict was rendered, and a punishment of 50 years in the Texas Penitentiary.
The prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Alysia Huskey, Leslie Odom, Taylor McConnell, Investigator Walter Hughey, and Paralegal Reyne Huerta.
The Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney’s Office stated in a release that they would also like to thank the Kaufman Police Department and Sergeant Ryan Wagner for their assistance in investigating the case.
