Kaufman man arrested in child pornography distribution case

KAUFMAN, Texas — A Kaufman man was arrested Friday morning in connection with an ongoing investigation for alleged possession and distribution of child pornography.

KAUFMAN, Texas — A Kaufman man was arrested Friday morning in connection with an ongoing investigation for alleged possession and distribution of child pornography.

According to Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black, at approximately 6:20 a.m., on Friday, February 26, 2016, the Kaufman Police Department arrested 32-year-old Mitchell Weston Miller and charged him with one count of possession with intent to distribute child pornography.

Black says the Dallas Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating Miller who was later determined to be living in Kaufman in the 1600 block of Rand Road. The Kaufman Police Department resumed the investigation and made the arrest this morning.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Miller’s home on Rand Road and seized several electronic devices from the residence.

Miller’s home is across the street from Helen Edwards Early Childhood Development Center but Black says there is no indication any of the students are involved in the case.

“I want to stress that at this point in the investigation there is nothing to indicate that any students who attend Helen Edwards are involved in any manner with this case,” stated Black.

Investigators do not believe any victims originated in the Kaufman area, instead, the pornographic material was obtained online and possibly traded to other individuals.

Additional charges are pending against Miller, according to Black who said the case remains an open and ongoing investigation.
