KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department conducted a surprise compliance check of registered sex offenders yesterday — finding one out of compliance and further investigating another offender.
KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department conducted a surprise compliance check of registered sex offenders yesterday — finding one out of compliance and further investigating another offender.
The check included all 10 registered sex offenders in the city limits of Kaufman.
Of the 10, one was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for his failure to stay in compliance, according to the Kaufman Police Department.
Of the remaining nine, one was out of compliance. According to the department, a warrant is being prepared for that sex offender's arrest. He has not been identified at this time.
One other offender is potentially out of compliance. The department is continuing to investigate his circumstances.
"The remaining 7 were found to be in compliance," stated the department.
"We take the safety of our community very seriously and seek to keep you informed of what we do to try and assure that safety each and every day," stated the department. "We thank you all for your support."
