KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department is investigating two “jugging” recent cases and is warning residents to be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious behavior or persons.
Jugging is when a suspect watches a victim go into a bank or check cashing business only to follow them to another location where the victim is attacked by the suspect or their vehicle is burglarized in an effort to steal the money recently withdrawn, according to the Kaufman Police Department.
“In these two cases, the suspect followed the victims from two different banks to another location and then entered into the victim’s car and stole the money when they got out and went inside,” the Kaufman Police Department stated on Facebook.
“In our cases, the suspect vehicle is some sort of silver-colored, small SUV,” stated the department. “The only suspect description at this time is a black male.”
“Please be aware of your surroundings, especially at banks and check cashing businesses, and report any suspicious behavior or persons,” continued the department’s statement.
