KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department seized more than 350 grams of cocaine after a traffic stop and arrest on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department seized more than 350 grams of cocaine after a traffic stop and arrest on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

52-year-old Vernon Grant Sadler of Tyler, Texas, was arrested following a traffic stop in the 800 block of South Washington, stated Kaufman Police Department Captain Les Edwards. During the traffic stop, Sadler told officers he was traveling from Dallas, Texas, to Tyler.

Sadler exhibited signs of suspicious criminal activity, according to the officer who was then given consent to search the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of 365 grams of crack cocaine.

Sadler is currently being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $200,000 bond for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to 200 grams but less than 400 grams. According to court records, among other charges, Sadler has prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance which resulted in prison sentences of 10 and 25 years, respectively.
