A Seagoville man was arrested in Forney by Kaufman County Deputies for siphoning diesel fuel from several vehicles parked at a business in the 9500 block of Helms Trail.
Jeremy Scott Baker, 38, was arrested and charged with theft under $1,500 with two previous convictions and unlawful use of criminal instruments. Baker was booked into the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center at 1:58 a.m. on January 16, and held on a $100,000 bond.
According to a KCSO press release, a 911 caller tipped the KCSO to the theft in progress and told the 911 operator that “this was the same vehicle that was seen in the past when diesel was stolen out the trucks of the same business.” The KCSO stated they apprehended the suspect while he was still in the process of siphoning diesel fuel from one of the trucks at the business.
KCSO Deputies also found a set of bolt cutters, a cordless saw and drill, and several other theft devices in Baker’s vehicle. Baker covered his front and rear license plates with aluminum foil in an attempt to hide his identity.
