KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas β A Longview man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a high speed, multi-county motorcycle chase which began in Kaufman County.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas β A Longview man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a high speed, multi-county motorcycle chase which began in Kaufman County.
The chase began at approximately 2:38 a.m. on State Highway (SH) 34 in Kaufman County between Terrell, Texas, and Kaufman, Texas. The pursuit traveled eastbound on Highway 243 from Kaufman into Van Zandt County.
A Texas DPS helicopter joined the pursuit which saw speeds at close to 100 miles per hour. At approximately 3:15 a.m., the pursuit entered Smith County on I-20. The pursuit came to an end at a gas station near the intersection of I-20 and Highway 69.
DPS arrested 27-year-old Justin Bernard Rusk and charged him with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and driving while license invalid with previous suspension.
Rusk is being held at the Kaufman County Jail and awaiting arraignment. Rusk has two prior misdemeanor possession of marijuana charges and a felony possession of a controlled substance charge in Kaufman County.
