TERRELL, Texas — A man is facing several charges after allegedly choking his 59-year-old mother over beer money in Terrell.

Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says police were called to a residence in the 1200 block of South Frances Street in reference to a disturbance at approximately 3:58 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016.

The suspect, 33-year-old Montreal Hudson, allegedly placed his hands around his mother’s neck, impeding her breathing, and pushed her against a wall while demanding money over a dispute over what police were told was beer money.

Hudson reportedly released his mother at which point she gave him some money, stated Sansom.

Before police could arrive, Hudson left the location in a white Ford Crown Victoria which was observed by an officer driving north on South Frances Street.

“[The officer] conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Montreal Hudson, the known suspect in the offense,” stated Sansom.

Hudson was taken into custody on three warrants out of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Terrell Police Department charges for felony assault on family or household member while impeding breathing or circulation and driving while intoxicated, third or more.

“An emergency protective order was sought and obtained in defense and on behalf of the victim,” stated Sansom.

Hudson is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $100,000.
