SEAGOVILLE, Texas — A man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly stealing a semi tractor from a Seagoville gas station.
Just after 5:30 p.m., police say a man allegedly stole a semi tractor from a gas station on East Malloy Bridge Road in Seagoville.
"The driver had just finished fueling this vehicle and momentarily left this rig unattended at the pump," Seagoville Police Department Captain Steve Davis told inForney.com.
The Seagoville Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter pursued the stolen semi tractor to a Sprouts Farmers Market parking lot in the 1800 block of Henderson Avenue in north Dallas.
The man stopped the semi tractor in the parking lot and was taken into custody without further incident.
"During this pursuit, speeds never exceeded 75 mph and no other motorists were placed in immediate danger from any deliberate actions of this suspect," stated Davis. "The trailer and its cargo were recovered in the vicinity of this theft, where this suspect had detached and abandoned it prior to being located in this stolen semi-tractor."
The suspect was later identified by police as 50-year-old Christopher Shawn Martin who, according to police, has an extensive felonious criminal history. Martin is being held at the Seagoville Jail on an outstanding parole violation warrant and is awaiting arraignment on charges for felony theft and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
Martin initially indicated to police he was from Terrell but police say his current records indicate he may have a Balch Springs address.
