FORNEY, Texas — A man was arrested Saturday night following a disturbance in Forney which led to a police pursuit into Balch Springs.
FORNEY, Texas — A man was arrested Saturday night following a disturbance in Forney which led to a police pursuit into Balch Springs.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Forney Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls for a man who was damaging a vehicle with a lawn chair on Fairfield Drive in Forney.
Upon officers’ arrival on Fairfield, the man fled in an SUV and failed to yield to the officers.
The man then led police on a pursuit south on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548, through Forney, and south to Interstate 20. The pursuit continued westbound on Interstate 20 until the man exited Dowdy Ferry Road in Dallas, Texas, and went back onto eastbound Interstate 20.
The man then exited Elam Road and entered a residential neighborhood were the Balch Springs Police Department was waiting at his residence on Lloyd Drive. The man, who neighbors in Balch Springs identify only as J.D., entered the driveway and, after a brief standoff with police, exited and surrendered without further incident.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the pursuit.
The man now likely faces charges for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, among other charges. A request for additional information has been made with the Forney Police Department.
