SEAGOVILLE, Texas — A man was arrested overnight after fleeing from Seagoville police in a vehicle reported stolen out of Terrell.

Police say the man, whose identity has not been released pending further investigation, is also suspected in vehicle thefts out of other local agencies.

A Seagoville Police Department patrol sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle after spotting it traveling on the service road of U.S. Highway 175 with fraudulent temporary paper license tags. The vehicle fled from the officer westbound into Balch Springs.

At one point, according to Seagoville Police Department Captain Steve Davis, the vehicle slowed to a near stop and a female came out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Davis says the woman fell to the ground from her own momentum and, based on dash-cam video, her actions appear to be deliberate on her part and no charges are expected.

Shortly after the woman exited the vehicle, a man exited the vehicle from the driver's position, while the vehicle was still rolling, and fled on foot.

"Our Sergeant gave pursuit on foot and was able to apprehend the suspect nearby with the assistance of TXDPS air support," stated Davis.

A Seagoville police officer stopped to attend to the woman who was transported to a Dallas-area hospital out of precaution. Davis says there was no notable injuries or property damage as a result of the incident.

The vehicle was found to be reported stolen out of Terrell.

Additional information is expected in the coming days.
