KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested after a woman's body was discovered burning near the Dallas-Kaufman County line, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.
At approximately 7:36 p.m., on May 20, 2018, the Dallas County Sheriff's Department received a call in regard to suspicious activity near Bilindsay Road in between Malloy Bridge Road and Beltline Road in Dallas County — approximately a mile west of the Dallas-Kaufman County line.
A 911 caller told police there was something on fire in the area and a vehicle had just left the location. Upon approach, the 911 caller discovered a body was on fire.
The body was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office and later identified as 52-year-old Tammy Cullins.
On May 22, 2018, detectives with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department interviewed a person of interest in the case who was identified as 54-year-old Gerald Troup.
Troup, according to family members, is Cullins' boyfriend.
"Shortly after the interview, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Troup and he was taken into custody at the Sheriff’s Department and booked into the Dallas County Jail," stated Dallas County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Raul Reyna. "Troup was charged with murder."
At the time of press, bond had not been set for Troup.
"The investigation is still very active and detectives are still in the process of gathering information, details and evidence," stated Reyna. "No further information is being released at this time."
Editor's Note: This story originally identified Troup as Cullins' husband, information which was released by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. The story has been corrected to identify Troup's relationship with Cullin as his boyfriend, according to several family sources.
