KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting at a Shell gas station in eastern Kaufman County.
The shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m., at the Shell gas station at the Hiram Road exit on the south service road of I-20.
Two male subjects were involved in a dispute when on man shot the other man, according to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger. Arrested was 28-year-old Brandon Mark Goldey who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Goldey allegedly shot the other man once with a handgun described as a .32 caliber Kel-Tec P-32. The other man was transported by an East Texas Medical Center ambulance to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and was last listed in stable condition. The bullet has been recovered.
Deputies remained at the gas station for several hours as investigators pieced together the shooting and took witness statements. A portion of the gas station parking lot and pump area was roped off with police crime scene tape.
Only one shot was fired during the dispute. Goldey initially told police he accidentally discharged the firearm.
The College Mound Volunteer Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded to the shooting.
