Man arrested for assault following fiery, head-on collision in Terrell

TERRELL, Texas β€” A man was arrested Saturday night after assaulting the driver of a vehicle involved in a fiery, two-vehicle, head-on collision in Terrell, Texas.

TERRELL, Texas β€” A man was arrested Saturday night after assaulting the driver of a vehicle involved in a fiery, two-vehicle, head-on collision in Terrell, Texas.

At approximately 10 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, a white SUV traveling westbound on West Moore Avenue in Terrell crossed into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound traveling sedan head-on near Lane Avenue. Both vehicles engulfed in flames a short time later.

The occupants of both vehicles were able to escape the fire. The driver of the sedan sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital by an East Texas Medical Center ambulance.

While police were investigating the accident, a reported acquaintance of the injured man from the sedan punched the reported driver of the SUV in the face while standing in a gas station parking lot near the accident.

Terrell Police Department officers and Terrell Fire Department firefighters who were working the accident rushed to the gas station to stop the altercation. The man who punched the other man was then arrested.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the accident and subsequent fire. Wreckers removed the vehicles from the road.
