FORNEY, Texas — A man was arrested overnight and charged with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest following a low-speed police pursuit from Forney to Sunnyvale.

FORNEY, Texas — A man was arrested overnight and charged with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest following a low-speed police pursuit from Forney to Sunnyvale.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., on Sunday night, the pursuit began on westbound U.S. Highway 80 near the East Fork Trinity River and continued westbound at speeds of 45 miles per hour. The driver, identified as Mario Leos Garcia, then exited Collins Road, also known as State Highway 352, and stopped on the frontage road just east of the Collins Road intersection.

Mesquite Police Department officers and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in the traffic stop.

Garcia was arrested without further incident and charged with driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, a state jail felony, according to the Forney Police Department in response to an inForney.com inquiry.

Garcia is awaiting arraignment on the charges, therefore, bond information was not available at the time of this report.
