KAUFMAN, Texas — A man who was arrested for aggravated robbery in Kaufman, Texas, over the weekend attempted to flee the scene on a bicycle, according to police.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Jessy Cody Jernigan, was allegedly shoplifting at the CVS store in Kaufman — located at the corner of East Mulberry Street and South Washington Street.

A store manager confronted Jernigan who then pulled a knife out and threatened the store manager, Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black tells inForney.com.

Jernigan fled the store on a bicycle south on South Washington Street.

The Kaufman Police Department, with assistance from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, located Jernigan in the 1400 block of South Washington, according to Black. Jernigan attempted to flee on the bicycle, and later on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

Black says the knife was still in Jernigan’s possession at the time of his arrest.
