KAUFMAN, Texas β A man was arrested early Thursday morning by the Kaufman Police Department for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana allegedly purchased in Colorado.
KAUFMAN, Texas β A man was arrested early Thursday morning by the Kaufman Police Department for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana allegedly purchased in Colorado.
According to Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle which was parked at a closed business in the 5000 block of west U.S. Highway 175 at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015. The man in the vehicle, 34-year-old Benito Morales Jr, was found to be in possession of marijuana, multiple THC-infused products, and a loaded handgun.
Morales told police he had recently been in Colorado, where it is legal to purchase and possess certain amounts of marijuana and THC-infused products, where he purchased multiple containers of marijuana, THC-infused products, and THC inserts for electronic cigarettes.
Morales was charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and was transferred to the Kaufman County Jail where he later posted bond.
