Man arrested in slow-speed chase, brief standoff early Monday morning

FORNEY, Texas — A man was arrested after a slow-speed chase and a brief standoff early Monday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., the Forney Police Department received a 911 call about a reckless driver in the area of Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 and Walmart.

Police officers responded to the area, observed the vehicle traveling northbound on FM 548, and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and continued to flee northbound at a slow speeds.

The chase turned northbound on State Highway 205 where the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office assisted in spiking the suspect's tires.

The suspect vehicle turned into the parking lot of Lakeshore Church, just prior to South FM 549, and refused to exit his vehicle.

After nearly an hour standoff, the driver was taken into custody and transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Rockwall.

Police have not identified the suspect in the pursuit to Rockwall on Monday morning.

In a separate traffic stop on Sunday night on the westbound U.S. Highway 80 service road near FM 548, 21-year-old Ronnie DaVor Jackson was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention in a vehicle and resisting arrest, search, or transport. He is being held on $3,000 bonds for each charge. EMS was also called to this scene and a child inside the vehicle was released to an adult.
