FORNEY, Texas — A Kansas man has been arrested and a woman remains at-large following an overnight aggravated robbery at the Shell gas station on Helms Trail.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department received a call about an aggravated robbery at the Shell gas station on Helms Trail near Interstate 20, according to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Lt. Jolie Stewart.
Stewart says a gun was displayed during the course of the robbery but no injuries were reported.
A man and woman, driving separate vehicles, were identified as the suspects and an attempt-to-local notification was sent to area law enforcement agencies for the two vehicles — a red passenger car and a beige pickup truck.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper located the two vehicles traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 near the Kaufman-Van Zandt County line and was able to stop the pickup truck, driven by the male suspect, which was later determined to be stolen out of Kansas.
The man was arrested on unrelated charges and booked into the Kaufman County Jail where Stewart says, after being identified as one of the robbery suspects, was charged with aggravated robbery. Additional Kansas-related charges are also expected.
Stewart says the female suspect, who remains at-large, has been identified and is not likely in the area anymore.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to Stewart.
This is a developing story.
