KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A man was beaten with a pipe by his intended victim and later ran over by his accomplice and friend on Saturday night, according to police.

According to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger, on Saturday night, February 20, 2016, two men went to another man’s house on Barfield Lane, just east of Kaufman, Texas, intending to do the man harm.

The homeowner, however, fended off one of the men with a pipe — striking him several times. The other man attempted to flee the scene, lost control of his truck, and ran over his friend who had just been beaten with the pipe.

The man who was beaten and run over by the truck was transported by CareFlite medical helicopter to a Dallas-area hospital. The man suffered lacerations to the head from the pipe and also a large laceration on his buttocks from being run over by the truck, according to Klingelberger.

Investigators are working to locate the second man who fled the scene.

None of the individuals involved in the incident have been identified by police because it has yet to be determined if charges will be filed in the case.

Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident. The case remains under investigation.
