FORNEY, Texas — Forney police say a man will likely not faces charges after biting his friend’s ear off in a drunken brawl outside a Forney business on Thursday night.

Witnesses tell inForney.com, just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, a man entered the Cowboy Chicken restaurant on the north service road of U.S. Highway 80, appeared very agitated, and began arguing with a restaurant employee for free chicken enchiladas.

According to the police report, the man, from Terrell, Texas, and a friend, from Forney, Texas, had entered the restaurant when the Terrell man, who was reportedly intoxicated, demanded free food. After being denied free food, he became “belligerent.”

Forney Police Department Captain Jason “Rocky” Ray says the friend attempted to get the man to leave the restaurant and, once behind the restaurant, the two men began to fight.

Ray says a witness called 911 and reported the fight in progress.

Upon officers’ arrival, the Forney man was observed sitting on the curb with blood running down his face and a visible “huge chunk of ear missing,” according to the report.

The Terrell man had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

The victim declined to file charges at the time of the incident and was transported by CareFlite ambulance to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

As of Friday morning, no charges had been filed and the case was designated inactive.
