TERRELL, Texas β A man was arrested and charged in an alleged burglary and sexual assault in Terrell on Valentine's Day, according to police.
At approximately 3:08 a.m., on Feb. 14, the Terrell Police Department responded to a 911 call and text-to-911 in the 300 block of Mineral Wells Street in regard to a reported family disturbance.
"I'm locked in the bathroom he wonβt let me leave the house" read a text-to-911, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom. "He locked all doors please hurry."
Terrell police officers arrived minutes later and made contact with a male, identified as 32-year-old Charles Ray Fields, despite no initial answer at the door. The officers were allowed entry into the home.
Upon entry in the residence, officers were also met at the front door by a female who was visibly upset with tears running down her face and a look of fear, stated Sansom.
The female was identified by police when she fled the location, west on Mineral Wells Street, and north on Boston Street before she was detained.
During the investigation, officers learned the male and female share a child and ere formally together.
The morning of the incident, Fields told police he had gone to the woman's house in an attempt to reconcile their relationship.
The victim told police she returned home to find Fields had forced entry into the residence. She told police he demanded "sex or sexual favors," and, when she refused, a verbal argument turned physical β with Fields forcing himself onto the victim.
Fields, talking to police, denied any physical violence.
"Once it was assault had ended, she went to bathroom and called and texted for police," stated Sansom.
Fields, of Terrell, Texas, was charged with burglary of a habitation/intend other felony, transported to Terrell Municipal Holding facility, and later booked into the Kaufman County Jail where he remains held on a $200,000 bond.
The Terrell Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
