FORNEY, Texas — A 37-year-old man faces charges for evading arrest and driving while intoxicated after leading Forney police on a chase Sunday night.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., a Forney Police Department officer was attempting to locate a vehicle reportedly driving recklessly that also may have struck another vehicle or fixture.
A 911 caller followed the vehicle eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 until a Forney police officer attempted a traffic stop on Spur 557. The vehicle failed to yield and fled eastbound on Spur 557.
The vehicle stopped twice during the pursuit before continuing to flee eastbound on Spur 557 and southbound on Farm-to-Market (FM) 148. The chase ended when the driver, identified as 37-year-old Manuel Castillo-Gavea, pulled into the Freddy's restaurant parking lot and was taken into custody without further incident.
Castillo-Gavea was charged by the Forney Police Department with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. He also faces a charge of driving while intoxicated out of the Denton County Sheriff's Office. Bonds were not set at the time of press.
