KEMP, Texas — A man was critically injured in a Kemp-area shooting early Monday morning and remains hospitalized, according to police.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., on Monday, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to the 10000 block of Lakeside Drive in the Kemp area on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man who had suffered a gunshot wound, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jolie Stewart told inForney.com.

The shooting stemmed from a disturbance between neighbors, which has been ongoing, according to Stewart.

The victim was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he remains in critical condition.

Two brothers, Jason and James Fullington, were arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. Both are being held at the Kaufman County Jail on $150,000 bonds.

The victim's brother was hospitalized late last year following a similar disturbance.
