ABNER, Texas — A man evaded police in an hours-long manhunt in the Abner area on Thursday. The man, who wass possibly armed with a knife, was involved in an alleged domestic dispute.
ABNER, Texas — A man evaded police in an hours-long manhunt in the Abner area on Thursday. The man, who wass possibly armed with a knife, was involved in an alleged domestic dispute.
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger says police received a 911 call about a domestic dispute and, when deputies arrived in the area of the call, the man was spotted in his vehicle, wrecked, and fled on foot.
Police established a permitter in the area of County Road 141, Abner Road, and Farm-to-Market (FM) 2727. A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter was called to assist in the search for the man in a heavy brush and wooded area.
Police say the man is possibly armed with a knife, although the exact type of knife is unknown it is likely a pocket knife.
The man has been identified, according to Klingelberger. Residents are asked to contact the sheriff’s department if they spot anything suspicious at (972) 932-4337. In an emergency, dial 911.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office are assisting in the search.
