Man sentenced to 40 years in prison on drug charge

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Kaufman County man with a lengthy criminal history was sentenced to 40 years in prison on a drug charge.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Kaufman County man with a lengthy criminal history was sentenced to 40 years in prison on a drug charge.

45-year-old Kevin Dale Emeory was facing five to 99 years in prison, according to court officials, for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams.

Emeory was arrested and charged in the offense by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office on May 15, 2016. He was later indicted in August 2016 and remained jailed until his sentencing on April 27, 2017.

Following trial, 86th District Court Judge Casey Blair sentenced Emeory to 40 years in prison.

Emeory’s criminal history includes convictions for aggravated robbery, assault, and burglary of a habituation, among other charges in multiple counties.
