KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — An Arkansas man was struck and killed on a North Texas highway hours after being released from the Kaufman County Jail. The man was previously booked into jail for leading police on a multi-county high-speed pursuit.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — An Arkansas man was struck and killed on a North Texas highway hours after being released from the Kaufman County Jail. The man was previously booked into jail for leading police on a multi-county high-speed pursuit.
The man, identified as 34-year-old Antonio Lavelle Williams, led the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on a high speed police pursuit which began near Terrell, Texas, and ended near Desoto, Texas, when he ran out of gas.
After the pursuit, on December 1, 2014, Williams was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on a count of evading arrest, accident involving injury, criminal mischief greater than or equal to $500 and less than $1,500, and multiple other holds from the Cedar Hill and Desoto Police Departments.
On December 2, 2014, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Williams bonded out of the Kaufman County Jail. Hours later, Williams allegedly left a bar, walked onto Interstate 35E in northwest Dallas, and was struck and killed. The driver of the vehicle is not expected to face any charges in the accident.
