TERRELL, Texas — A man and woman were arrested Friday afternoon after fleeing from Terrell police officers with an infant in their vehicle.
Terrell Police Department Narcotics Unit Investigators and a K-9 Unit were attempting to serve felony warrants on 23-year-old KaNoddrick Turner of Terrell at the Villager Inn on U.S. Highway 80 when they saw him leaving the area in a vehicle, according to Terrell Police Department Corporal Z. Boyd.
Boyd says officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle which failed to yield to the officers and fled on Interstate 20.
The vehicle later stopped at the Exxon station at Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641 and Interstate 20 where Turner surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. The woman, 26-year-old Kaelyn Welch, also of Terrell, was also arrested.
No injuries were reported in the incident and Boyd says the five-month-old infant was released to family shortly after the incident's conclusion.
Turner was charged evading arrest or detention with a vehicle with a previous conviction, abandon or endangering a child, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, and possession of marijuana. Turner had an active warrant for evading arrest or detention with his prior conviction in 2012 on the same charge. His criminal history in Kaufman County also includes a conviction for burglary of a habitation in 2018.
Welch was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A booking photo for Welch was not immediately available at the time of press.
