Mesquite police continue search for burglary suspects

As of 8:42 a.m., Mesquite Police are continuing their search for four suspects who were involved in a burglary earlier this morning in Mesquite, Texas, according to Mesquite Police spokesperson Lt. Bill Hedgpeth. β€œWe have no one in custody at this time,” Hedgpeth told inForney.com.

The area authorities are searching is near US Highway 80 and Lawson Road near the Dallas County and Kaufman County lines. The suspects allegedly broke into a Radio Shack on Galloway Avenue at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, October 25, 2013 – which is across the street from the Mesquite Police Department.

According to Hedgpeth, a Mesquite Police Officer saw the suspects fleeing the scene and turned around to pursue the suspects. The suspects turned off their lights on their older model Ford Taurus and fled on eastbound US Highway 80 towards Forney, Texas.

A Dallas County Sheriff's deputy stopped the suspects' vehicle on US Highway 80 near Lawson Road but they fled on foot. Mesquite K-9 units assisted in the search.

Police presence in the area caused major traffic delays into Kaufman County and also an accident in the backup near FM 740.
