VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — More than 3,000 marijuana plants were seized and subsequently destroyed in an early morning raid on a marijuana grow operation in Van Zandt County.
Early Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, Canton Police Department, Edgewood Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted a raid on a marijuana grow operation located near U.S. Highway 80 and State Highway 19, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
“3,375 marijuana plants were seized and subsequently destroyed,” stated the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office. “The investigation into the person(s) responsible for the growing is still underway.”
