KAUFMAN, Texas – A Kaufman man reported missing was found deceased in Dallas, Texas, and another man has been jailed for an alleged murder-for-hire plot that may have also claimed the life of a second man from McKinney.

20-year-old Manuel Rios of Kaufman, Texas, was reported missing to the Kaufman Police Department by his mother on August 18, 2014. On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, authorities in Dallas recovered Rios' body under an I-45 bridge spanning the Trinity River in south Dallas.

The Kaufman Police Department arrested 30-year-old Eric Ruiz Carbajal on Friday, August 23, 2014, and charged him with capital murder while remuneration. He is being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black told the Kaufman Herald, Carbajal allegedly “put out a hit” on Rios and another man. Investigators don't believe Carbajal committed the murder and they don't believe it was committed in Kaufman rather he was killed at one location and then dumped under the bridge.

Investigators believe Rios and the second man, 26-year-old Derek Jordan “DJ” of McKinney, Texas, stole drugs from Carbajal. “At this point, DJ is still unaccounted for,” Black told the paper. “We're very concerned about his safety.”

Investigators believe the solicitation for the murder took place in Kaufman.

The Kaufman Police Department is now working with the Dallas Police Department homicide unit and the Texas Rangers as they continue their investigation.

Calls for additional information to the Kaufman Police Department and the Dallas Police Department were not immediately returned at the time of press.
