Officers seize drugs, money in early morning narcotics bust

TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell-Forney SWAT team and Terrell PD narcotics investigators executed a knock and announce search warrant for narcotics in South Terrell early Thursday morning where two people were detained and marijuana and money were seized.

At approximately 6:15 AM on Thursday, law enforcement officials served the warrants 900 block of South Rockwall Ave. Joshua Eaman Russell,20 and Kathy Jo Russell, 60, were found in the residence and detained.

Upon making entry, officers found the younger Russell in his bed with a vape pen lying next to him which officers believe contained a THC concentrate.Russell was also found to be in pocession 5 pieces of a yellow honey colored, sticky substance believed to be a THC concentrate, 18 boxes containing vape cartridges of THC concentrate a small bag of marijuana and a digital scale and $868 in cash. Russell was placed under arrest and transported to the Terrell Municipal Holding Facility.

Investigators searched Russell's black Pontiac parked in the driveway. The vehicle smelled strongly of the odor of fresh marijuana. In the passenger floor was a paper shopping bag containing a large mason jar. This jar containing a green leafy substance recognized from the investigators training and experience as marijuana according to reports.

Investigators say they weighed the THC concentrate on digital scale finding the total net weight for THC concentrate is 25.1 grams.The found marijuana was a total of 61.5 grams.

The home where the drugs were found is within 1000 feet of Burnett Elementary.This area has been designated and mapped by the City of Terrell Engineer as a drug free zone.

Russell awaits transfer to the Kaufman County jail where he will be arraigned and bond set.
