TERRELL, Texas โ One person was arrested after an early Monday morning police pursuit in Terrell.
Just before 2:30 a.m., the Terrell Police Department began pursuing a white Nissan Frontier on the cityโs north side.
The pursuit continued at relatively lows speeds as the driver maneuvered between several residential streets in the area of State Highway 34, Rockwall Avenue, McCoulskey Street.
The pickup truck drove through a yard at Rockwall Avenue and Gant Street where the driver struck a utility police and gas meter, ultimately leading to the conclusion of the pursuit on Hardin Street just north of Gant Street.
Atmos was dispatched due to a gas leak at the struck meter and Oncor was dispatched to inspect the utility pole.
24-year-old Rafael Mendoza was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Additionally, Mendoza was charged with duty striking fixture or highway landscape greater than or equal to $200 and failure to identify as a fugitive from justice.
It is unknown what led to the pursuit.
