FORNEY, Texas — A female was arrested following a brief police pursuit in Forney on Tuesday night.
At 9:09 p.m., a Forney Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevy Cavalier on westbound U.S. Highway 80 just east of Pinson Road. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer and sped up, continuing westbound.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the Mesquite Police Department were notified but the pursuit ended less than two miles from where it started just before Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 on the north service road.
Additional Forney police officers arrived and the female was taken into custody without further incident following a felony stop.
The female, identified as 26-year-old Shamika Jackson of Balch Springs, Texas, was charged with evading arrest of detention with a vehicle and prohibited substance in a correctional facility. Jackson is also being held on two Class C warrants out of the Mesquite Police Department. Bond information was not available pending arraignment.
According to a police report, Jackson was in possession of .12 ounces of marijuana.
