TERRELL, Texas — One person has been arrested following a low-speed, multi-county pursuit on Monday night.
The pursuit began before 7 p.m. when police attempted to stop a reported reckless driver.
The pursuit began in Kaufman County and entered Hunt County via State Highway 34 where the Hunt County Sheriff's Office and Quinlan Police Department joined.
Following several minutes in Hunt County, the driver traveled back south on SH 34, back through Terrell, and eastbound on Interstate 20. The pursuit continued at varying low speeds as it approached Canton, Texas.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Kaufman and Van Zandt County Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Van Zandt County law enforcement personnel, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter, among others, also joined in the pursuit.
Troopers deployed spike strips in an effort to stop the vehicle — a white, single-cab pickup truck.
The truck passed through Canton and exited Farm-to-Market (FM) 1255, turned southbound, and stopped near the city limits.
At approximately 7:55 p.m., the driver of the vehicle, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody without further incident.
