TERRELL, Texas — An overnight Terrell Police Department pursuit was short-lived after the fleeing suspect’s vehicle experienced mechanical issues.

Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says police were first notified of a disturbance at a restaurant on State Highway 34 near Interstate 20 at 1 a.m.

The suspect left the location and, within minutes, an officer located the vehicle, described as a 1996 blue Chevy Tahoe, which fled on westbound Interstate 20, according to Sansom.

“He fled westbound on IH20 until his vehicle gave out mechanically and he was taken into custody without incident,” stated Sansom.

Police identified the suspect as 44-year-old Harry Arnold Mays of Terrell, Texas. Mays has been charged with evading arrest or detention in a vehicle.
