A vehicle stolen from the elderly victims, who were both shot, was also located in Terrell.
The Fort Worth Police Department says officers were dispatched to the 10000 block of Cool Springs Drive earlier today in reference to a home invasion robbery and shooting. Police say an elderly man and wife, both 69, were shot during the home invasion.
The couple’s vehicle, a light-blue 2008 Kia Sorento, was also stolen during the home invasion.
Kaufman County law enforcement agencies received a be-on-the-lookout notification after a credit card reportedly stolen during the home invasion was used at the QuickTrip gas station on State Highway 34 near Interstate 20.
The couple’s Kia was later located in the parking lot of the Texas Apartments complex in the 1000 block of Mineral Wells on the city’s south side.
Police also arrested a person of interest in the 1000 block of South Frances Street where a home was later cordoned off with crime scene tape.
The person of interest, who has not been identified, was arrested in connection with an alleged aggravated kidnapping in Dallas, Texas, on Monday, according to a press release from the City of Terrell on Wednesday. Police believe the man involved in the aggravated kidnapping is involved in the Fort Worth home invasion robbery and shooting.
The Terrell Police Department has been working alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Dallas Police Department, the Fort Worth Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal's in these two investigations, according to the city's release.
The current condition of the couple is unknown.
