VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office is mum on details related to a reported burglary and shooting which occurred near the Kaufman County line on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, citing an ongoing investigation.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office is mum on details related to a reported burglary and shooting which occurred near the Kaufman County line on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, citing an ongoing investigation.

The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday to locate a man allegedly involved in a home burglary who may have been shot by the homeowner.

The burglary incident was reported on Farm-to-Market (FM) 90 in Van Zandt County and the alleged burglary suspect was later located in the area of Kaufman County Road 116 and Van Zandt County Road 2606 — which is only accessible through Kaufman County. The man was treated by EMS and transported to an area hospital.

Representatives with the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, when contacted Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday would only confirm the shooting was under investigation and could not confirm any details of the incident citing an ongoing investigation.
